Amsterdam FireChoir in Münster - a black gospel night

Münster 10th December 2011 - The Christengemeinde Münster (a pentacostal church) held their gospel concert with the Amsterdam FireChoir in the Cathedral Herz-Jesu Church with 200 visitors. 250€ were collected for a society helping children with cancer (Verein zur Förderung krebskranker Kinder in Münster e.V.).
"Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance. I just want to praise you” – resounded in the Herz-Jesu Church in Münster on that Saturday in Advent. And this desire quite obviously does not seem to be a mere lip-service. The gospel music could be felt and many were carried away by the FireChoir’s deep commitment, their powerful voices and a perfect performance.
"All of our singers are in our choir on a voluntary basis," said Doug Raught director and founder of the Amsterdam FireChoir. Originally from the U.S. he founded this gospel project in Amsterdam 3 years ago with his wife. Meanwhile, the gospel project is in its sixth season and they performed in Germany for the first time. The gospel concert war organized by the Christengemeinde Münster e.V., an evangelical free church, which cooperates with other churches and free churches in Münster.
The choir sang, "And His name will shine, shine eternally". Marc Strunk, pastor of the Church, continued this message in his sermon: "Jesus is the light of this world and He wants to chase our darkness away."
Not alone the music was central part of the evening. Half of the donated funds will be redirected to a society for helping children with cancer (Verein zurFörderung krebskranker Kinder in Münster e.V.). "Charity means to help practically and we want to live authentically as a Christian community in Münster" Marc Strunk explained.
